Stroll Through Hadley Gardens

Opened in the summer of 2022, Hadley Gardens are a must see for visitors. Located next to the Shaw House Inn on Main Street (near the intersection of Shaw and Main), the gardens feature a Victorian dollhouse, a miniature Fern Canyon and native plantings.

The gardens are named after Willis Dean Hadley, who adopted Ferndale as his community of choice when he arrived by chance in the late 1960s. Willis became a committed member of the Ferndale community, a quiet benefactor to many of its residents and was well known for his whimsical sense of humor, as evidenced by the Victorian style dollhouse he maintained for many years on Main Street before it was moved to the gardens. Willis was also deeply committed to protecting and preserving native plants and restoring and enhancing habitat for native wildlife. To this end, prior to his death, Willis established the WDH Foundation to carry out his commitment to protect and preserve native plants and wildlife.

The Hadley Gardens are ADA accessible and open to the public from just after dawn to dusk. No admittance charge.

Please enjoy the gardens on your visit to Ferndale.
