The Majestic (filmed in Ferndale)

Directed by Frank Darabont and released in 2001, The Majestic follows the story of a blacklisted writer, Peter (Jim Carey), who gets into a car accident, loses his memory, and decides to settle down in the small town of Lawson, California. The residents of this town mistake him for a local man, Luke, who was declared MIA during World War II. As Peter helps Luke’s father (played by Martin Landau) and his high school sweetheart (Laurie Holden), questions arise about his true identity and motivations.
