Located in the heart of historic Fernbridge, the Lost Coast Spinnery is the first wool mill in Humboldt County in nearly 100 years. It provides custom processing services for sheep ranchers, fiber artists, and designers committed to ethical, local, and environmentally responsible production. With a mission rooted in land stewardship and community resilience, the mill is more than a business—it’s a critical piece of the regional regenerative fiber economy.
Grand Opening Celebration: The Lost Coast Spinnery will celebrate its grand opening on May 31 with an open house, local wool demonstrations, and a fiber market featuring Humboldt-grown and processed goods, including a limited run of Lilly yarn processed from start to finish as part of a Cal Poly research project. The event will honor the county’s rich wool heritage while showcasing a hopeful, hands-on path forward for sustainable agriculture and regional manufacturing.
